The Cayman Islands are one of the most beautiful places in the world to live. So much beautiful scenery, rich culture and history. Yet, with all this inspiration, there's a deep void in the creative culture of the place some call home. PAUL CHIN PRESENTS: RENAISSANCE aims to explore this phenomenon and where our talent is hiding.
Join Illustrator/Musician Paul Chin as he introduces you to some of the country's talent and hangs out with the islands' biggest underdogs. Meet artists, designers and musicians of all standings; unknowns to local celebrities, and see why it's time for a Renaissance.
To everyone who’s been following along in our adventures in creative culture and documentary filmmaking over the last year, I apologise for the lengthy delay in updates but I’m afraid we have some bad news. We have no footage. We lost it all in a devastating back up drive crash.
All our field trips, our interviews with people in the business, our observations, our wise words, our gigs; all gone. It’s a really unfortunate spot to be in, considering how many gems we had in there and couldn’t wait to share with you, but it is the spot we are in regardless. What makes things a little more frustrating is the fact that Paul is going to be away in Toronto all summer and won’t be back in Cayman until Christmas, at the earliest, so it’s actually really hard to tell when we’ll be able to get back to work again.
Now, on a more positive note, losing all our work doesn’t necessarily mean we’re calling it quits on the project. It’s been a little over a year since we started and we’ve learnt so much about filmmaking and our subject (the state of creative culture in the Cayman Islands) just through that alone. We’ve been blessed to have the experience in the first place and it would be a shame if we didn’t try to pick up the pieces and continue making our film. We totally plan to get back on the horse and make it just as good as it was before, or even better!
Thanks so much for all your support and we’ll keep you updated.
